September 30 has been formally announced as World Translation Day with United Nations’ May 24,2017 decision. Translators not only enables to exchange cultures but also helps science to expand, literature to thrive and helps people to solve certain social problems every day. While translators offer solutions to world’s problems, United Nations announced this day as Translation Day to spread world-wide awareness on translation profession.
Even if it seems like a new date; World Translation Day has been actually celebrated by hundreds of people since 1953 to this day. Thanks to FIT(International Federations of Translators) it has been informally celebrated each year with different themes. After U.N’s announcement; it gained formal recognition.
